I love my Orange Box. Currently, I’m playing Team Fortress 2, and I love it! I liked Team Fortress Classic, but TF2 just blows me away. However, there’s another honorable mention on the Orange Box: Portal. I’ve just finished Portal, and I must say…I can’t look at cake the same way anymore.

The game is one of the most strange, yet awkwardly satisfying games I’ve ever played. With a few exceptions (like Zelda), I generally do not prefer puzzles in games. But Portal had well made level designs that were mind numbingly complex. Also, the Portal gun made this a fresh FPS game. In what game, can you create inter-dimensional rifts in space whereby you can suspend yourself in infinite free-falling loop at terminal velocity in a room no bigger than my garage?

Only in Portal, apparently.

One of the more annoying but strangely entertaining aspects in Portal was the sadistic AI, GlaDOS. Her constant lies and false praise drove me nuts. And the ending song summed up personality quite well.

Too bad the game is extremely short, I beat it in one entire sitting without any external help.  Now I have to get those damn turrets out of my mind.

Well, E3 2009 is over. A slight disappointment to say the least, although I was impressed with one item, Microsoft’s Project Natal. It wowed a lot of people, but we shall see if the hype shall match the final product. Peripherals have always been a poor sell for consoles, let alone another peripheral that may cost as much as the entire system. Natal’s future is grim.

Nothing special came out the Nintendo other than a few okay 1st party games, and Sony is just plain lagging behind with the motion control wand (aka Wiimote + Wiimotion Plus ripoff).

MGS: Rising, FFXIII and a few other games paint a brighter picture, but consoles seem to be in a drought for now.

That is why I got Team Fortress 2.
