Over the past week, I was able to play "The World Ends With You" for the Nintendo DS. What a splendid game. The story is similar to the manga/anime Gantz, except less suckage. Neku, the main character, one day wakes up in the middle of Shibuya, Tokyo. There is one problem, however. No one can see him, and he has the strange power to read people’s mind. Worst off, he’s force to play some game and survive for 7 days, or be erased from existence for eternity.

And I thought I had bad mornings.

I must say. The game was VERY creative and visually/audibly impressive. Building strategies with pins, reading people’s mind, manipulating your own character level for better drop rate. The stylus was well incorporated into the game. The damper on everything was the clumsy battle system. The game has a somewhat complicated real-time battle system, where the player is given two characters to control at once.

I could hardly handle one character, let alone two. Thank the heavens for the built-in AI. But the battles were fun to play. Certain attacks require either tapping an enemy or drawing a circle to be activated. It was hectic. All in all, I was glad to have play it to the end. The end song, "Lullaby for You", was such a lovely song.

On a side note, I also had the chance to rewatch "The World Is Not Enough". Coincidence? I think so!
